Mixed Martial Arts · Gibsonville, NC
Beginners in every class · Coached by real competitors

It comes down to three ranges.
This is the thing that stops most people from ever walking in.
You will not be thrown into a fight. Not on day one, not in month three, not ever unless you specifically ask for it. Live sparring is a separate, optional, coach-approved session. Plenty of our members train for years, get in the best shape of their lives, learn genuinely useful self-defense, and never spar a single round.
Class is technique, drilling, pads, bags and controlled positional work, which means solving one specific problem with a cooperative partner at an intensity you both set. That is not fighting. That is learning.
Come to one. Come to both. There is no wrong night to start.

Start to finish, so nothing is a surprise
Show up about 15 minutes early. Someone will be expecting you by name. You get a quick tour, mats, cage, bathrooms, where to put your shoes, and you get introduced to a couple of people so you are not standing alone against a wall. Coach will ask about injuries or limitations before you step on the mat.
You will not be the only new person in the room.
Athletic clothes with no zippers and no pockets. Shorts or athletic pants and a t-shirt. A water bottle. That is the entire list.
No uniform to buy, nothing to order, nothing to figure out before you get here. If you decide to stick around, we will tell you exactly what gear to buy before you waste money on the wrong thing off the internet.
After a warm-up scaled to whoever is actually in the room, coach breaks down one or two techniques slowly, then you rep them with a partner.
Your partner will be someone who knows what they are doing and remembers exactly how their first night felt. They are not trying to beat you. They are trying to help you get the shape of the movement right. If you need to slow down, you say so, and it slows down. That is the whole system.
The last stretch is conditioning, bag rounds, core, some fight-intensity work, then a cool down. Then you shake hands with every person in the room. Every class, no exceptions. That is how we end.
You will be tired. You will have learned something you did not know at 7 PM. And you will know by 8:15 whether this is your thing.
We say leave your ego at the door and we actually enforce it. Nobody cracks on the new person here, nobody proves a point on a beginner, and nobody gets hurt so someone else can feel good about themselves.
This gym is built around people with jobs on Monday morning and families at home. Coaches supervise every session, every live round is geared and watched, and you always control your own intensity. You will get pushed here. You will not get embarrassed here. There is a difference, and it is the entire culture of this place.
Before their first class.
No, and no. The second one is the myth worth killing. Getting in shape is what happens as a result of training. It is not a prerequisite for being allowed in the door. Most of our members walked in with zero martial arts background and cardio they were not proud of. Every movement gets broken down step by step, every drill scales to whoever is in the room, and you set your own pace. Waiting until you are ready is the only reliable way to never start.
You will not spar on your first day, and you may never spar at all. Live sparring is a separate, optional session, and you only step in when your coach tells you that you are ready. Plenty of members train for years and never do a round.
Regular classes are technique, drilling, pad and bag work, and controlled positional work with a cooperative partner. Nobody is throwing punches at you.
We will not pretend a contact sport carries zero risk. It does not, and any gym that tells you otherwise is selling something. What we control is everything else: protective gear, coach supervision on every live round, partners matched sensibly, and a hard rule that nobody is pressured into anything. This gym is built around people who need to be at work on Monday morning.
Both nights run 7:15 to 8:15 and follow the same shape: warm-up, technical instruction, partner drilling, then conditioning and a cool down.
What changes is the emphasis. The curriculum rotates across the three ranges above, so across a couple of weeks you cover striking, clinch and takedowns, and ground work rather than getting one of them over and over. Wednesday is when the cage gets used for wall wrestling and takedowns against the fence.
Both nights are open to complete beginners. Coming to both is how you build the full picture, but plenty of people start with one night a week and add the second when it fits.
