Plenty of gyms around Burlington offer a kickboxing workout. The Sweat Lab is a fight gym. We have a professional MMA cage, a full-size boxing ring and a matted floor for wrestling and ground work. Your MMA coach is Coach Mike, a pro MMA fighter who owns the gym.
MMA class runs Monday and Wednesday at 7:15 PM. Each class picks a few skills and teaches them step by step: how to stand and punch, how to stop a takedown (when someone grabs your legs and tries to put you on the mat), and how to get back up if you end up on the ground.
You never have to fight. Sparring (practice fighting with a partner) happens in a separate Friday session, and only when your coach says you are ready. Most people train for the fitness, the confidence and the skill.

It is about 15 minutes. Class starts at 7:15 PM, so most people come straight from work. The cage, the ring and the coaching are why people make the drive.
Athletic clothes with no zippers or pockets, water, and a mouthguard if you have one. Gloves and shin guards come later, and a coach will tell you what to buy.
