USA Boxing Gym
Boxing five nights a week in a full ring, coached by a Golden Gloves champion. Beginners start Monday and Wednesdays at 7:00. Five minutes from Elon, and ten minutes from Burlington.
Almost nobody who walks in here has boxed before. That is the normal way to arrive, and it is why your first weeks happen in their own class instead of at the back of somebody else's.
No experience needed · No contract · Cancel anytime · Open gym included

Who is teaching you
1982 New York Golden Gloves champion. Former USA Boxing Team member.
Coach will spend twenty minutes of a Monday night fixing the way one beginner stands
Very few can show you an 88-4 amateur record and a Golden Gloves title out of the toughest amateur tournament in the country — and almost none of those are teaching a first-timer in a town of seven thousand people.
Practically, it means you learn it right the first time. Bad habits picked up off a video take years to unlearn, and most people never do.
You will get worked here. You will not get embarrassed here.
Champion Holt Boxing →What kind of gym this is
Both are fine. They are not the same thing, and you should know which one you are signing up for.
Plenty of places in Burlington and Greensboro will put you in front of a bag for forty-five minutes with music on. You will sweat and you will enjoy it. What you will not do is learn to box, because nobody is watching your feet.
This is a boxing gym. There is a full competition ring. There is a coach correcting you by name. Sparring exists for whoever wants it and is optional for everybody else. And because we are a USA Boxing club, sanctioned amateur competition is an actual door here rather than something you would have to leave to find.
You still get the conditioning — more of it, honestly, because skill work is harder than a circuit. You just get a skill as well.
All three are in the room on a Monday night, and it works.
Start here
A class that exists so your first night is not spent copying people who already know what they are doing.
Forty-five minutes on the fundamentals. Stance, so you are balanced instead of braced. Footwork, which everybody skips and which decides everything. The jab. Your hands. Not telegraphing.
It is the hardest part of boxing and the part every fitness class rushes. Get it right in month one and the rest arrives quickly. Get it wrong and you spend two years fighting your own feet.
When it clicks you slide into the 7:15 class with everyone else. No test, no announcement. Coach just starts giving you the same work.
Ninety minutes, 7:15 to 8:45, Monday through Friday.
Rounds of movement to get the shoulders loose and the feet awake. It looks like nothing. It is where most of your technique actually gets built, because it is the only time you are watching yourself instead of a target.
One or two things, slowly. A punch, a counter, a way out of a corner. Coach demonstrates, walks the room, corrects you individually. This is where forty years of coaching earns its money.
Mitts with a coach or partner, then timed rounds on the heavy bag. Hard enough that you stop thinking about anything else. This is the part people come back for.
Core, rope, and whatever the coach feels like doing to you at the end. Then you shake hands with the room. Every class, no exceptions.
Athletic clothes with no zippers or pockets, and water. That is the list. You do not need gloves or wraps for a first night — we will sort you out.
Once you are staying, a coach tells you exactly what to buy. Wraps and gloves, in that order, and nothing else for a while. Do not spend two hundred dollars online before somebody has told you what fits.
Sanctioned Amateur Boxing
USA Boxing is the national governing body for amateur boxing, and being a registered club is the route into every sanctioned tournament in North Carolina and beyond.
Competing means registering as a USA Boxing athlete, which involves some paperwork and a medical. We walk you through all of it.
USA Boxing Sparring runs Fridays at 7:30 — where you find out whether you actually want this. Optional, supervised, full gear, and you go in when Coach Holt says so and not before.
More boxing than anything else we run.
