Real Martial Arts for Whitsett

If you live in Whitsett, you do not have to drive into Greensboro or Burlington for real martial arts training. The Sweat Lab is a full fight gym just up NC-61: a 24-by-24 boxing ring, a professional MMA cage, heavy bags, a weight floor and a matted training area, all under one roof.

Classes run in the evenings, so they fit after work or school. Here is what you can train:

  • Boxing: a sanctioned USA Boxing club with a full competition ring, coached by 1982 New York Golden Gloves champion Anthony “Arthur” Holt.
  • MMA: striking, clinch and ground work in a real cage, led by Coach Mike “Duckman,” a 2–1 professional fighter.
  • Muay Thai: punches, kicks, elbows and knees, with an All Levels class for first-timers.
  • No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu: grappling with no punches or kicks; no uniform to buy.
  • Kids Martial Arts: boxing, MMA, Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu for ages 6–11, on weekday afternoons.
  • Personal Training: one-on-one with Coach Mike for fitness, fighting skills or sports performance.
